This course is aimed at students who enjoy the arts and would like to explore concepts of freedom and emancipation as depicted and expressed in film. The session will focus on particular ideas of freedom showing how diverse film makers have communicated the notion in the moving pictures. We will watch short film excerpts and clips together, reflect on their interpretations and identify techniques. Students are encouraged to share their ideas and views on the cinematic pieces, engaging in rich discussions around themes of liberation.

Experienced lecturer with an M.A (Magister Artium) in English and American Literary and Cultural Studies (Anglistik & Amerikanistik) and a Master's degree in Culture Diaspora Ethnicity, Birkbeck University, London. I have a long-standing interest in emancipatory concepts and movements across cultures, the arts and media, the knowledge and awareness thereof, I have adeptly applied both in my teaching and research in Frankfurt a. Main, Berlin and London.
