MyNatureGuide is a science communication project aiming to give participants the opportunity to learn specialist nature identification skills and encourage involvement in the many exciting citizen science projects happening in Berlin! We will start with a crafty session making ID guides and learning best practices for spotting wildlife, then we will go out into nature and put the newly-learnt skills to use. We’ll be learning how to use technology, specifically identification apps, to find and record animals and plants. This one-day workshop will be open to everyone, with families also welcome.
This course is run by Stephanie Woodgate, a PhD candidate at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, part of the Berlin School of Public Engagement and Open Science and the IETI (Impact-orientated Public Engagement), funded by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung. Stephanie’s work on the evolution of lizards has involved extensive fieldwork, requiring lots of wildlife observation and identification skills!
