In a world where so-called outsiders are too often vilified and feared, where empathy is too often treated as a weakness, and oppressing and silencing is far too common a practise, we will focus on finding the universal human experiences in the personal stories of the "other", who may be us and our loved ones.

These may include stories of migration and life as an immigrant, member of a minority group, or anyone dealing with marginalisation and discrimination. We welcome diversity and openmindedness expressed in whatever form: writing, photo montage, public performance, film, etc. We will discuss all the stories you want to tell and people you want to tell us about in our weekly meetings. Stories will be welcome in a collection on the instructors website, since sharing on social media is becoming less comfortable. Clearly, this course is a safe space where harmful stereotypes and prejudice are not
allowed.
Note: This course combines well the “Waterfall of Words” generative writing courses for those who wish to develop what they have started there.

Materials will be provided by the teacher.
